Current Oswestry
School pupil
I am passionate about
Performing Arts, it's a
large part of my life.
A new performing arts
centre will be a great
space for teamwork,
friendship and to be
creative.
The thought of
performing in a new
improved space is
exciting and something
to look forward to.
The opportunity to showcase our talents in an environment where
we can perform with larger groups of performers and spectators
will strengthen the school community and bring us together.

Old
Oswestrian
(2021-2023)
I joined
Oswestry School
as its reputation
for Performing
Arts provision
was recognised
nationally. I loved my
time here, and made great friends within the
department. The teachers and technical provision
are outstanding, however the facility does not
match the calibre of work that is being produced. I
am now studying in London, but am delighted
about the fact that a facility is on the horizon. I
wouldn't be where I am now without the team and
provision at Oswestry, and future students
deserve the very best.

Head Girl, Oswestry School
Drama and performance has always been close to my heart right
from when I was little. Being a shy and quiet child, getting up on
stage was one of the few things that truly brought me out of my shell
and allowed me to express myself. I know without a doubt that
Oswestry School’s drama department, along with Miss Thompson's
endless support and encouragement, enabled me to grow into the
person I am today. Drama allowed me to be truly in touch with my
emotions and develop a heightened sense of empathy.
Not only this, but drama connected me with people. Taking part in
school plays like Matilda and Chicago gave me a chance to get to
know others that I otherwise would have no particular reason to
interact with. Drama has played such a
vital yet perhaps underappreciated
role in bringing the school
together for years and years;
it's time now for the
department to be recognised
and rewarded for the
imperative work that it
does, developing
confidence, bringing pupils
together and providing
them with an outlet for all
of the stresses and
difficulties of school life
that young people
experience.
Old Oswestrian (2005 - 2015)
A former Oswestry School pupil, Cameron is an
award-winning and sought after musician and
composer who has collaborated with many of the
UK’s finest ensembles and festivals. Some notable
examples include a commission for the opening
concert of the Cheltenham Music Festival, as well as
working with the Philharmonia Orchestra at the
Three Choirs Festival. Recently, Cameron has
worked with the National Youth Choir and will soon
be working with the Royal
Philharmonic
Society for a
new work for
the Royal
Liverpool
Philharmonic
Orchestra for
2025.
He is passionate
about making
music more
accessible to young people and helping them to
access careers and opportunities in the music
industry. To this end, Cameron is BBC National
Orchestra of Wales’ North Wales Associate and
produces education activities across North
Wales with the orchestra.
We feel extremely fortunate that
Cameron has recently returned to
school to teach music and
inspire our current pupils.
