Our Theatre,
our dream.
What the
performing arts
means to us...
Freya and Darcy
Darcy
Members of Oswestry School
Performing Arts Academy
Sisters Freya (12) and Darcy (8), have been
attending the Academy since they were both
two years old. Both girls attend St. Martins
School.
Freya said: “I love coming here, it’s like a
family because there are people here that I
have grown up with. We all go to different
schools but that doesn’t matter - we all get on.
“I love the environment, I love the dancing and
I really like doing the shows.”
“We both started when the Academy was
based in the Prep School (Bellan House) and
to have moved to the Memorial Hall is an
improvement, but to think we could have a
proper theatre is so exciting, almost awe
inspiring!”
Darcy said: “I really like dancing because you
feel free and I feel happy. You're not just
sitting around, you’re having fun. I love
singing as well. I do like performing on stage, I
don't get nervous in front of an audience
because you just have to get on with it and do
your best.”

Home”.
In May 2025 he is taking part in a masterclass and concert at the
Whittington International Music Festival.
In addition, Daniel plays with Porthywaen Silver Band and is working
towards his Grade 7 cornet.
“None of this would have been possible if I hadn’t been introduced to
music lessons and performances at school,” he explained.
Mum Natasha said the girls have been
committed to the Academy from the start and
have never been bored or thought of stopping.
Since coming to Oswestry School at the age of 6, Daniel has learned
several instruments including piano, cello and the cornet. He began
formal voice training in 4th form, and this has become his musical
passion.
“They are always singing and dancing at
home and making lots of videos! They have
loved it, and know they are very lucky to have
this sort of opportunity in Oswestry to learn
ballet, dance and performing arts to such a
high standard.”
He said: “Music is so important to me and the new Performing Arts
Centre will ensure music and the Performing Arts are prominent
features of an Oswestry education, and will help attract even more
talent into the school in the coming years”.
