Meg
Head Girl, Oswestry School
“Drama and performance has always been close to my
heart right from when I was little. Being a shy and quiet
child, getting up on stage was one of the few things that
truly brought me out of my shell and allowed me to
express myself. I know without a doubt that Oswestry
School’s drama department, along with Miss
Thompson's endless support and encouragement,
enabled me to grow into the person I am today. Drama
allowed me to be truly in touch with my emotions and
develop a heightened sense of empathy.
Not only this, but drama connected me with people.
Taking part in school plays like Matilda and Chicago
gave me a chance to get to know others that I otherwise
would have no particular reason to interact with. Drama
has played such a vital yet perhaps underappreciated
role in bringing the school together for years and years;
it's time now for the department to be recognised and
rewarded for the imperative work that it does,
developing confidence, bringing pupils together and
providing them with an outlet for all of the stresses and
difficulties of school life that young people experience.”

with my emotions and develop a
